Wake County School Board District 5
Hello! Thank you for visiting my website to learn more about me.
I’m Lynn Edmonds, running for Wake County School Board, District 5. First and foremost, I am grounded in the belief that public schools are a public good and vital to a healthy democracy. Born and raised in Durham, my husband and I are both graduates of Durham Public Schools. Our two adult children were well educated in Wake County Public Schools. During their K-12 years in WCPSS, I served on multiple PTAs in various roles including President, Secretary and Committee Chair. Actively engaging in my community and public service is important to me. As someone who believes in the power of reading as essential to student success, I’m proud to hold an at-large position on the Wake Library Commission, currently serving my third term. Since 2014 I have worked for Public Schools First NC and currently serve as Outreach Director. For nearly two decades, as both a volunteer and professional, I have advocated for public education.
Students, teachers and school staff need champions right now. They need leaders who will advocate for their needs: equitable resources, mental health supports and improving working conditions. I will be that champion. I will be that leader. I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming months and hearing what vision you have for our school system and District 5.
